Our picks for the hottest new European beach destinations in the Mediterranean this summer

Between seafront resorts, classic estates reimagined and luxurious private islands, the Mediterranean coast continues to deliver luxury across Southern Europe.

While not yet fully opened, our eyes are on these landmark new destinations, and how they are raising the bar for refined vacation experiences. Here's a rundown on these exciting new resorts.

ROSEWOOD BLUE PALACE, CRETE

Set along Crete’s northeastern coast, Rosewood Blue Palace brings a more contemporary, design-led feel to one of the island’s most established luxury settings. Overlooking the calm waters of Elounda and the island of Spinalonga, the resort is built into the hillside, with many rooms and villas offering private pools and uninterrupted sea views. The focus here is on space, privacy and a strong connection to the landscape, with architecture that blends into its surroundings. It’s a polished, quietly confident take on the classic Cretan resort.

CONRAD CORFU

Conrad Corfu introduces a more contemporary, lifestyle-driven approach to the island’s luxury scene, set on a quieter stretch of the southern coast. The resort centres around open, flowing spaces, with rooms and villas designed for indoor-outdoor living, many with private pools. Wellness and dining are key parts of the experience, with a strong emphasis on spa rituals and refined Mediterranean cuisine. It’s a relaxed but elevated option for travellers looking beyond Corfu’s more traditional resorts.

MANDARIN ORIENTAL, MALLORCA

Mandarin Oriental’s arrival in Mallorca brings a more understated style of luxury to the island’s coastline. Set against a backdrop of clear water and natural shoreline, the hotel leans into clean lines, open terraces and a sense of calm throughout. Days are meant to be enjoyed peacefully - time by the water, spa treatments and relaxed dining with a strong sense of place. It’s a more contemporary alternative to Mallorca’s grand historic hotels, with a focus on simplicity and setting.

COMO LE BEAUVALLON, ST TROPEZ

COMO Le Beauvallon offers a different perspective on St Tropez, set slightly away from the centre across the bay in a quieter, more residential setting. The spectacularly-restored Belle Époque property is surrounded by mature gardens, with wide views over the water and a strong sense of space throughout. Interiors follow COMO’s signature understated style, with an emphasis on light, natural materials and calm, residential comfort. It’s a more private, wellness-led take on the Riviera experience.

JW MARRIOTT, CRETE

JW Marriott’s debut in Crete takes a more contemporary, architectural approach, set along the coast near Chania. The resort is spread across a large natural site, with low-rise buildings and planted roofs designed to blend into the landscape. Rooms, suites and villas offer generous space, many with private pools and wide sea views. It’s a calm, design-conscious option that feels closely connected to its surroundings.

FOUR SEASONS, MYKONOS

Four Seasons brings its signature polish to Mykonos with a resort set above Kalo Livadi Bay, one of the island’s most scenic beaches. The design draws on classic Cycladic architecture, with whitewashed buildings, terraces and pathways that follow the natural slope of the land. With a relatively small number of rooms, suites and villas, the focus is on privacy and a more intimate atmosphere. It’s a refined base that balances Mykonos’ energy with a calmer, more considered pace.
